Dr. Anil Chandra Phukan with the DOB on 1st March, 1956 is a citizen of India. He is alumnus with MBBS and MD(Microbiology) from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh under Dibrugarh University and DMV from N.I.V.(ICMR), Pune and Awardee of WHO Fellowship for DSA under COTTISA, Bangkok, Thailand. </p> <p> He occupied the positions of Assistant Director, In-charge of Microbiology of R.M.R.C. (ICMR) Dibrugarh, founder Prof. & Head of Microbiology Department of NEIGRIHMS, Shillong and held the responsibilities of Medical Superintendent and Dean of NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, the Institute of Excellence of MOH&FW, GOI. Presently, he is working as Prof. & Head of the Department of Microbiology at Narayan Medical College and Hospital under Gopal Narayan Singh University, Bihar.</p> <p>He was involved in Academics, Patient Care Activity and Biomedical Researches of the local, regional and national importance. He conducted several research projects in the field of clinical microbiology in collaboration with NIV, Pune; AIIMS, New Delhi; PGIMER, Chandigarh; CMC, Vellore; NIE, Chennai; NICED, Kolkata as Principal/ Co-Principal Investigator under extramural funding of ICMR, DBT, WHO, MH&FW , NVBDCP, RNTCP etc. He also involved in investigation of epidemics at local and regional levels including National Disaster like Super Cyclone in 1999 in Orissa.</p> <p> He also involved in setting of Microbiology Laboratory including Virology Laboratory in R.M.R.C. (ICMR) , Dibrugarh and in NEIGRIHMS, Shillong like HIV- SRL & ICTC, TB and COVID- 19 Laboratory and as Nodal Person for Avian Influenza Laboratrory (AIL) for the North-East India. He was also entrusted the responsibility as a Nodal Officer of the Mentor Institute of NEIGRIHMS, Shillong for setting up of the COVID-19 Testing Laboratories in the entire North-East Region of India under MOH&FW, GOI, New Delhi. He was also associated with isolation and identification of the Novel Human Group A Rota Virus G-12 Strain in India.</p> <p> He was associated with National Institute like AIIMS, New Delhi; PGIMER, Chandigarh as External Examiner of the Ph.D including West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata; University of Ranchi; Kolkata University; Sri Shankerdev University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, Manipur University, Guwahati University and etc. for PG and Ph.D. He has more than 25 publications covering both reputed National and International Journals in his credit. </p> <p>He was also associated with extra-curricular activities like production of Documentary Cinema on the medical subject like “Japanese Encephalitis” funded by Doordarshan of India and also participated as regular presenter in TV and AIR Programs like “Doctor se milye” on different public health related issues of regional and national importance . He was actively involved in many National Health Programs like- NTEP, NACO, NVBDCP, NMCP, NLEP etc. at different capacities. </p> <p>He attended multiples numbers of National and International Scientific Conferences as Oral Presenter, Invited Speaker, Chairman/Co-chairman and also Moderator of the Technical Sessions in India, Netherlands, United Kingdom and France. He also organized Northeastern Regional and National Medical Conferences as Chairman with grand success.
