Dr. Vishal K Chavda has won the, “Asia’s Iconic Scientist Award” title of ASTRA 2023.
Dr. Vishal K. Chavda is employed by the Stanford University Medical Center as a Postdoc Fellow and Scientist in Cancer and Stroke. Since 2021, he has worked as a postdoctoral scientist at Stanford University, Stanford School of Medicine, and Stanford University Medical Center. He holds an MS and PhD in neuropharmacology/neurology.
Along with studying anesthesia, he also studied sleep medicine at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences and anesthesia at B J Medical College’s Civil Hospital in Ahmadabad, Gujarat. He is a Fellow of the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology and a Professional Member of the American Heart Association (AHA), American Stroke Association (ASA), and (FCINP). He’s been conducting research for eight years. (2015). He has received numerous international honors, including those from the Malaysian Stroke Council, IC-KDA, IBRO, FENS, and WFNS. To present his research at the World Neurology Conference in Korea, he was given an international travel grant by the AOCN-WCN-2019 (Asian Oceanian Association of Neurology-World Congress of Neurology). He also received travel funding for the MDS-AOS-organized Neuro-Imaging Fellowship course at the Hong-Kong Sanatorium Hospital. He received the IBRO-YITP award and International Travel Grant in 2019 from the International Brain Research Organization at the IBRO-2019 conference, which the Korea Brain Research Centre and IBRO jointly organized. Additionally, he received the First Research Poster Prize in 2020 from the Malaysian Stroke Council. The Indian government awarded him a CSIR-SRF Fellowship in Medical Science (Neurology) while he was pursuing his doctorate. Throughout his academic career, he has consistently outperformed others. He received the “Best Research Scholar” honor from Nirma University in 2020 while he was pursuing his doctorate.
He has received more than 12 prestigious international awards and travel grants. He belongs to numerous reputable international societies and associations for neurology. He has authored more than 55 international publications in reputable journals that have undergone peer review. He currently holds the positions of Editor of BMC Neurology and Guest Editor for a number of prestigious journals, including Frontiers in Surgery (Subsection: Neurosurgery), Neurology International, and Brain Sciences (MDPI). He also serves as a reviewer for well-known and peer-reviewed journals such as Diagnostics (MDPI), IJMS (MDPI), Journal of Translational Stroke Research (Springer Nature), Oxford Open Neuroscience (Oxford Press), Brain and Behaviour (Elsevier), European Journal of Neuroscience (Willey), Brain Behaviour and Immunity-Health (Elsevier), Cells (MDPI), Biomedicine (MDPI), and many more. He is now more involved in basic and clinical neurological disorder research, particularly stroke, brain cancers, trauma and ischemic brain damage, cognition, and neuro-degeneration. He is the editor of two books (in progress) and the author of three book chapters. He is a dedicated and emerging scientist in the field of Neurology, and ASTRA-2023 is honored to bestow the “Asia’s ICONIC Scientist Award” on him. “He would like to dedicate this award in the name of Almighty, his Parents, beloved wife, and sister,” he says.
