Dr. Smitha Madhavan has won the title of Asia’s Outstanding Researcher Award – ASTRA 2023
under the Researcher Category for her specialization in, Psychiatric Nursing.
She is currently working as a Professor/HOD in the Department of Mental Health Nursing,
Narayana College of Nursing (Dr. NTR University). Her Educational credentials are Graduation
From Padmavathy College of Nursing, Dr. M.G.R. University, in 1998, post-graduation in
Psychiatric Nursing from Saveetha College of Nursing, Saveetha University, in 2008, and a Ph.D. in
Obstetric Psychiatric Nursing from Lincoln University College, Malaysia. Other than this, thus far
she has completed 25 short courses. She has now a rich & extensive overall more than 21 years of
experience in teaching and clinical instruction. She has Professional affiliations in 12 associations
and honored with 7 awards so far such as the Best Scientific Poster Presentation Award in Andhra
Science Congress, 2019, Outstanding Teacher Award 2022 (Research India Foundation),
International Best Researcher Award 2022, ISSN International Research Awards & Congress 2022,
Best Poster Presentation Award in 5th International Conference on Futuristic Nursing conducted
by Narayana College of Nursing, 2022, International Nobel Research Award in the field of
Psychiatric Nursing, ISSN International Research Awards & Congress 2023, Quality Research
Award 2023, Research India Foundation, and Best Teacher Award 2023, Global Inter-Disciplinary
Advance Research (GIAR) Academic Foundation. She has presented around 24 scientific papers
and topics at various conferences and seminars and coordinated 6 conferences and seminars. Her
career accomplishment is in various areas such as chairing scientific sessions, inviting speaker,
Book editor, Book reviewer, Book author, Journal Editor, Funding Study Guide, NAAC
Criterion In-charge, Institutional IIC member and NIRF Co-Ordinator, etc. So far, she has p
published 21 scientific research articles in various indexed journals like Medline, Scopus, and Web
of Science. She has conducted more than 15 research projects and guided more than 90 students in
their UG and PG projects. She has attended more than 70 conferences, seminars, and workshops
until now.
