You have won Asia’s Outstanding Researcher Award for excellence in the Synthesis and antiproliferative activities of novel Piscidinol derivatives as potential anticancer agents. When I received the mail, I was surprised to get this award. I was pleased to get your email, which said that Astra-2023 anticipates your visit to accept this honour. I felt delighted to be a part of the Asia Research Awards ASTRA-2023. I was born in 1993 in Siddipet District, Telangana. I completed my B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy (2010-2016) at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad. I Joined CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology for a Master’s Programme (2016). After completing her Master’s degree, I joined CSIR-IICT (2017) as a Project Assistant. I later pursued my PhD (2019-2022) at CSIR-IICT. I isolated several classes of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and established their cellular toxicity. I specialise in synthesising natural product derivatives and isolating, characterising, and identifying bioactive compounds in natural products. I have synthesised several derivatives. Currently, I work as Research Associate at CSIR-IICT. I published five publications and attended more than twenty conferences. I explored multidisciplinary research areas in my research at the CSIR-IICT (PhD). I focused on the extraction, isolation and characterisation of novel bioactive constituents and the synthesis of novel natural product derivatives for structural activity relationships with the mechanism of action for developing the drug. During my PhD, I gained expertise in metabolite
screening of natural products using UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS/MS and data interpretation and characterisation of bioactive constituents. I obtained a vast knowledge in isolation, identification and characterisation of secondary metabolite techniques like extraction methods (classic and modern chromatographic techniques etc.). I have expertise in isolation, purification and identification,
structure elucidation and plant metabolite profiling of secondary metabolites. I am also well-experienced in chromatographic techniques like Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Column chromatography (Normal & Reverse phase, Size exclusion, Stationary phases, Silica gel, alumina, Sephadex LH20, Diaion® HP-20). I have expertise in the characterisation of bioactive compounds using analytical techniques like High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC-Analytical, Preparative and Semi preparative), High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC), High-Resolution Mass Spectroscopy (HRMS) and 1D and 2D Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance (NMR) techniques such as HMBC (Heteronuclear Multiple Bond Correlation), HSQC (Heteronuclear Single-Quantum Correlation Spectroscopy), COSY (homonuclear correlation spectroscopy), NOESY (Nuclear Overhauser Effect Spectroscopy). During my, Post-PhD I expertise in cell biology techniques like handling human cancer cell lines, Cellular toxicity assays (MTT assay and SRB assay), Immunocyto chemistry, FACS analysis for cell cycle progression and apoptosis, Nucleic acid isolation from cells, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, and western blotting. I also have expertise in protein purification. My research is focused on discovering novel bioactive constituents responsible for therapeutic activity from natural products and chemical modification to enhance their therapeutic effect, along with the molecular mechanism of action.
