Evaluation of award Criteria
The evaluation of award criteria for the Asia Research Awards (ARA) is a meticulously structured process designed to ensure that the honors bestowed—including the ASTRA, ICRE, ISTRA, IRC and AIRA titles—maintain their reputation as global benchmarks of excellence.
Our assessment is predicated on Four Strategic Pillars, ensuring a 360-degree review of every individual and institutional nominee.
1. The Four Strategic Pillars of Evaluation
Every application is scored against a predetermined rubric to ensure absolute impartiality and transparency.
I. Research Impact & Output (40%)
This is the primary technical metric. We evaluate the tangible contributions to the global knowledge pool.
-
Indexing: Focus on Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed indexed publications.
-
Metrics: Review of H-index, i10-index, and total citation counts.
-
Patents: Consideration of filed, published, or granted patents and copyrights.
II. Professional Consistency & Growth (20%)
We look for the “Commitment towards Excellence” over time.
-
Cadre Progression: Evaluating the nominee’s journey from early-career researcher to established academic icon.
-
Tenure: Years of dedicated service in teaching, research, or clinical practice.
III. Innovation & Intellectual Originality (20%)
This pillar assesses the “Innovative” aspect of IMIRAC.
-
Problem Solving: Does the research address a critical gap or a societal challenge?
-
Novelty: The uniqueness of the methodology or the application of the findings.
IV. Peer Recognition & Leadership (20%)
Evaluation of the nominee’s standing within the global community.
-
Fellowships: Memberships in prestigious bodies like the American Chamber of Research or United Medical Council.
-
Mentorship: Contributions to the “betterment” of students and junior researchers.
2. The 3-Tier “Tough Task” Assessment
To maintain integrity, no single individual decides an award. The process moves through three distinct levels:
3. The Role of the Self-Appraisal Report
A unique feature of the Asia Research Awards is the Self-Appraisal requirement. This process is designed to be introspective.
-
Alignment: It helps the nominee align their work with international standards.
-
Data Compilation: The “compilation of data” required for the report acts as a self-audit, helping researchers identify areas for future system improvement.
-
Inspiration: It serves as a catalyst for the entire workforce of an institution to strive for a higher “cadre” of excellence.
4. Finality & Respectability
Because our criteria are so elaborate and predetermined, the results are beyond dispute.
-
Global Adulation: This rigorous vetting is why our awards receive adulation from peers worldwide.
-
Real Pride: Winners step into their next career phase with the confidence that they have been measured against the best and found exceptional.
“We do not simply hand out awards; we validate legacies through a process where values are added to values.”
