Dr. T. R. Lenka works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology Silchar, Assam since 2012. He has 22 years of experience in academics and electron device research. He received a Ph.D. degree in Microelectronics Engineering from Sambalpur University, Odisha, India in 2012, an M.Tech degree in VLSI Design from Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, India in 2007, and a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Berhampur University, India in 2000.
Dr. Lenka was a Visiting Researcher at Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, New Jersey, USA in 2019 and also a Visiting Researcher at the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore in 2018. He visited several countries to present his research work at IEEE International Conferences held in Singapore, Thailand, Macau, Hongkong, Italy, Spain, and Sweden.
Dr. Lenka received the Outstanding Volunteer Award 2021 from the IEEE Kolkata Section, IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) Student Branch Chapter of the Year Award 2021, Distinguished Researcher in Nanoelectronics Award 2021 by 7th Venus International Science and Technology Awards (VISTA 2021), Distinguished Faculty Award 2019 by NIT Silchar and Visvesvaraya Young Faculty Research Fellowship (YFRF) Award by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Govt. of India in 2018.
Dr. Lenka has been awarded a Solar Chartered Engineer by the Solar Energy Society of India (SESI). He is also awarded a Certified Professional Engineer and Chartered Engineer by The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI]. He is a Fellow of IETE and IEI. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (USA), Member of IET (UK), OPTICA formerly OSA (USA), SPIE (USA), IOP (UK), SSI; Life Member of ISTE, OBA, and OPS. He is actively associated with IEEE-EDS, SSCS, CAS, Photonics, and NTC. He is the founding Chair of the IEEE Kolkata Section Nanotechnology Council Chapter since 2020 and founding Chapter Advisor of the IEEE ED NIT Silchar Student Branch Chapter since 2013.
His research interests include Nanoelectronics: III-Nitride and Ga2O3 based heterojunction devices for RF/Microwave and high-power nanoelectronics and III-Nitride Nanowire LED; Energy Harvesting: Solar Photovoltaics (Perovskites solar cell, CZTS solar cell, and Tandem solar cell), MEMS-based piezoelectric energy harvesting and Nanotechnology: Growth of TiO2 Nanowire for nano-optoelectronics.
Dr. Lenka has guided 12 Ph.D. scholars and 25 M.Tech scholars under his supervision. He has (co)authored more than 200 research articles in SCI/Scopus-indexed scientific journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings. He has edited 05 books by Springer Nature and delivered more than 30 invited talks. His Google Scholar citation metrics are 1577 with h-index~20 and i-index~58. He has been appointed as Associate Editor of four international journals. He is the IEEE EDS Committee Member of the Compound Semiconductor Devices and Circuits Committee. He is a potential reviewer of many international peer-reviewed journals. So far, he has reviewed more than 300 manuscripts.
Dr. Lenka adjudicated 07 Ph.D. theses of Indian Universities and was the examiner of the Ph.D. defense “Open” Viva-voce of the candidates.
He has organized three international conferences MNDCS-2021, MNDCS-2022, and MNDCS-2023, and the proceedings are published in Springer LNEE (Lecture Notes on Electrical Engineering). He has been the TPC Chair and also has chaired Technical Sessions at several international conferences in India and abroad.
Dr. Lenka has been granted two international (Australia and Germany) patents to his credit and also filed one South African patent. He has implemented 12 sponsored research projects as Principal (Co) Investigator funded by DST-SERB (MATRICS, Indo-Italy Bilateral, ASEAN-India International Collaborative R&D Project), CSIR, and, MHRD. He has received funds from IEEE EDS to conduct IEEE EDS Mini-Colloquium (MQ) in (2016, 2018, 2020, and 2023) and EDS Summer School in 2021.
