Dr Deepa R Mane is a Dentist by profession, working as a Professor in Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology at KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences and she is also In-Charge of Cell Culture Laboratory at KLE’s Dr Prabhakar Kore’s Basic Science Research Centre constituent unit of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), at Belagavi placed in state Karnataka, INDIA . She has completed her BDS under graduation in the year 2000 at Sri S. Nijalingappa Institute of Dental Sciences, Hassan, Mysore University. Completed her MDS Master’s degree in the year 2006 at KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. She has also pursued her PhD in Oral Pathology in the year 2018 from KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research and awarded as BEST PhD Award for the same in the year 2020.
Dr Deepa Mane has a total of 16 years of experience in research and her field of interest is mainly focused on Oral pre-cancer and Cancer. She has undertaken research projects to assess the expression profile and role of numerous molecular markers in oral cancer . Her immense interest is in cancer cell culture and due to her expertise, she is In-Charge of Cell Culture Laboratory at her esteemed institute from past one year and completed around 25 cell culture projects in the year 2022-2023. She has guided many post graduate students and recognized as PhD guide at KAHER. Dr Deepa Mane has published around 45 articles in the international and national peer reviewed indexed journals and also has two patents for her credit.
Dr Deepa Mane has got many awards like National Best Photography Award on immuno-histochemical expression of Tenascin in a bud stage of developing tooth at Indian association of oral and maxillofacial pathology Conference 2010. Best Teacher Award for the year 2012 from KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences. Grant Obtained from VGST under Seed Money for Young Scientist Research 2014 Title: Evaluation of the role of ECM protein Tenascin-C in oral potentially malignant disorders and OSCC: An IHC and Cell culture study. Grant obtained under Seed money for faculty from KAHER in the year 2019 Title: Evaluation of histopathological features of borderline lesions of OSCC: An IHC study. Editor of Perception Magazine for the Year 2018 & 2019. Member of Board of Studies for Preclinical subjects KAHER 2020-2022. Best PhD Award 2020 by KAHER: Title ‘Evaluation of the Role of Extracellular Matrix Protein Tenascin-C in Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders and Squamous Cell Carcinoma: An Immunohistochemical and Cell Culture Study’.
