Prof. Dr.Gabriel Lajús Barrabeitg has won the International Excellent Scientist of the Year Award in CIENCIAS MEDICAS/TERAPEUTICA PSIQUIATRICA/PSIQUIATRIA – 2024

Graduated as Doctor of Medicine in 1980. Multi-award-winning Doctor of Sciences and 1st and 2nd
Degree Specialist in Psychiatry, Diploma in Psychotherapy and Master's in Social Psychiatry, Professor
and Senior Researcher, he worked at the National Center for Mental Health in Cuba for 30 years and
later at the University of Medical Sciences in Havana as a professor and psychotherapist in Addictions
and Neurotic Disorders, where he introduced Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in Cuba, which he
studied at the East/Wind Institute of Canada for its multiplication in Cuba, from which he graduated as a
teacher; professor of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology, training health professionals (mainly doctors,
technologists, health psychologists), specialists, masters and Doctors of Science. He has also been
awarded for his excellent results in assistance, teaching, research, managerial and editorial work. In the
latter, he was director of the Scientific Journal of Medical Services for several years, achieving excellent
results. He has taught both pre- and postgraduate courses at two foreign universities in Angola,
Nicaragua and Venezuela, graduating specialists in General Comprehensive Medicine and in Adult and
Child Psychiatry. He has written three books on addictions that are used in medical science courses,
other related professions, in master's and doctoral degrees in medical sciences and other related
sciences in Cuba and other countries. For more than 25 years, he has developed a line of research on
addictions, domestic violence, drugs of abuse in general and, more recently, new psychoactive
substances or drugs of current consumption, to more recently delve into research related to the
challenges and challenges for human health and the ecosystem of the reclassification of the use of
marijuana for medical purposes and scientific research and the legalization of recreational marijuana in
many countries. He belongs to the academic committee and the teaching staff of the master's degrees
in Community Mental Health, Drug Abuse Prevention and Criminal Psychology, graduating diplomas and
master's degrees. He has published multiple publications in high-impact scientific journals, both national
and foreign, and has more than 26 honors and other recognitions and awards obtained both in Cuba and
in other countries. The most relevant were: Annual Scientific Award for the Sciences, for the Best
Doctoral Thesis, Annual Scientific Award for the Best Researcher and Annual Scientific Award for the
Best Scientific and Technological Result in Cuba. He was recently awarded the international award by
ISSN AWARDS-2024: "International Outstanding Researcher Award". Professor and Senior Researcher at
the University of Medical Sciences of Havana with excellent results, he has achieved multiple forum
awards; later published in journals and, something that typifies him, is his constant presence in
undergraduate and graduate courses as a teacher and/or course instructor. Professor Golden Chalk.
Professor of Psychotherapy at his center and at other university centers, and for years he made
contributions to multi-thrust psychotherapy, which he wrote, published and later received international
awards for. Likewise, he is a tutor and advisor of theses at all levels of Psychiatry, Psychology and other
related specialties; Examination Boards for Changes in Higher Teaching Categories, president of
examination boards at all levels. He has always worked as head of a service during medical assistance,
integrating his other functions. More recently he has worked in the Postgraduate and Research
Department of the Victoria de Giron Faculty of Medical Sciences belonging to the University of Medical
Sciences of Havana, Cuba, where he heads the Doctoral Training process, as a Scientific Degree
Methodologist, training Doctors in Sciences and has developed a meritorious work. He belongs to
several scientific societies, both Cuban and foreign: Full Member of the Cuban Society of Psychiatry,

Neurosciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Latin American Pharmacists, Association of Latin American
Psychiatrists, Life Membership of the World Research Council, among others. He has also served as a
reviewer, editorial board and director of several national and foreign journals of high scientific impact,
earning recognition for his work.
